About us

What is ‘Briscola’? It is a popular card game played by Italians. Briscola is not a card game to be played alone. Nor is Italian food something that should be eaten alone.

At Briscola, we focus on using the best products from Italy or regional businesses. Our coffee is locally roasted by Lonsdale Street Roasters, our meats are from Red Hill Butcher, our gelato is locally churned by Gelatomio, our regional wines include Four Winds Vineyard, Lerida Estate, Pankhurst, Brindabella Hills & Bimbadgen, and our beers include cider & pale ale by Pig's Fly in Bowral. Our ravioli is locally made by my Mum.

Briscola seduces you with the Italian passion for sharing food; tasting the provenance of food founded on the traditional processes of Italian cooking and inspired by the produce of Italy and Canberra today.


Briscola Pizzeria e Stuzzichini Bar offers an authentic, seasonal approach to the food traditions of Italy.

Briscola’s pizza recipe has produced Canberra’s favourite pizza since the birth of its predecessor ‘La Posada’ in 1998. Using imported Italian tipo ‘00’ flour, the dough is twice risen before being hand-stretched when you order + topped with local & Italian produce. The kitchen focuses on crafting intimate sharing plates, which explore the simple & fresh flavours of Italian cuisine, just like dining at Nonna’s table.



Briscola’s drinks list is crafted on the defining principles of our identity: Italian and Canberran. Italian wines, artisan beers, a collection of aperitifs & digestives and stove top coffee showcase the best of Italy. In the spirit of the Italian passion for local produce, the cast of regional wines, beers, locally roasted coffee, locally churned gelato and homemade sodas, celebrate the unique culture of Canberra today.


Next Communal Dinner - WEDNESDAY 20th MAY 2015

TAVOLA (Italian for table) is Briscola's monthly communal dinner.

For Tavola we all gather around long tables, just like family dinner at Nonna's.

Each month we showcase different Italian produce and homestyle dishes in a series of sharing courses.

The next Tavola has been announced for Wednesday 20th May at 6.00pm. This month's regional theme is Roman Feast. Our resident Roman chef has drawn on classic dishes from his childhood...start with some Roman style Focaccia, endulge in Gnocchi alla Romana or slow roasted balsamic lamb 'abbacchio' and much more.
